Creative Marine Marketing was formed in 2006, with the aim of helping boaters of all types with their equipment. MyBoatsGear.com was concieved to give boaters independent reviews of boating equipment old and new. Part of that goal was to educate people on How Systems work and what systems and equipment are available. Go to www.myboatsgear.com .  The service has been gaining in popularity with over I million page views for the year 2010.

Now we have started a long term goal of providing a place for boaters to buy, and sell their used or unused gear.

Despite the fact that the boating community has thousands of used boat equipment sitting in storage, there is not a dedicated used marketplace for us. EBay or Craig’s list work well for many, but they do not have categories for boating gear.

Hence we have designed UsedBoatEquipment.com especially for the boating community. The categories and forms are designed around helping us sell items such as; anchors, clothing, electronics, engines, navigation equipment, safety, sails, inflatables and anything else.

Placing an ad is easy. Sign up for an account and Click on “Post an Ad” and you will be taken through a three step process. First step choose a category then in step 2 fill out the form with your address, description of item, category, price, condition. The 3rd step lets you approve the ad and then hit submit. Admin will approve the ad before it goes live. You will be notified by e mail when that happens. On your ad there is a contact form for potential buyers to contact you without giving up your e mail, You can communicate directly with buyers.

    Greetings,

    I was just referred to your site, and it looks very promising. A couple of questions/comments/suggestions:

    * Why are half the ads marked as “expired?” Are they no longer for sale?
    * Can we filter out the “expired” ads?
    * Can we filter on price? When I’m “bargain hunting” without a clear purpose, I don’t want to see anything over $500, so setting an upper limit would be helpful. Not an issue right now, with only 80 items on the site, but it will be when you have 800 on the site.
    * I just spent half an hour going through the listings. Good fun. It won’t be fun the next time — in fact, there won’t be a “next time” if there isn’t a way to screen all listings older than “X”, so that I only see the new items. Even better would be RSS feeds, or email notifications of new items.

    Thanks. I hope to find this as fun as ebay and craigslist.

      Thanks for the likes and dislikes. We are just over 1 month old and so there are many issues we are dealing with. When ads expire, the poster is notified if they want to continue or not. If they have sold the item or no longer want to sell, we will prune those ads. For some reason however the poster is not getting the e mail notification that the ad has expired. We are dealing with that so thanks for bringing it up. Sorting by price maybe possible I will find out. We also will be implementing a RSS feed soon. BTW the home page has the most recent ads and the most popular ads, so you can see the latest ads toward the bottom of the page.

      The point of this site is to provide and option to ebay and craigs list which do not offer categories for boaters.
